Red Cow Organics commissioned Story & Brand in the pursuit of a brand refresh. The “cheese” business is competitive, and at times saturated; standing out from the crowd can be challenging at the best of times.

Red Cow Organics pride themselves on being certified organic, and a premium product which is a major point of differentiation over competitors.

What powers Red Cow Organics? Their ‘girls’ (beautiful Australian red cows) of course. These magnificent specimens are the most important part of the business (loved so much, they were transported from the mainland) – and healthy cows grazing on clean and lush pastures makes Red Cow Organics a decadent tasting cheese. With this in mind a slogan was created: “Delicious cheese from healthy cows.”

How do we highlight the benefits healthy – and happy – cows bring to a premium product, while at the same time standing out from the crowd?

Well, yoga is synonymous with health and cows practising yoga in the field would stand tall among other competing brands. Then there was the “premium” look. For this, the inspiration was fashioned from beautiful deli brands of the past; using a ‘textured wine stock’ for the label, minimal colour, a stamped logo, and old-school engraved illustration.

With this type of inspiration, next came creating. For this, I sketched a series of healthy cows, attempting a variety of yoga poses. Of these, five were chosen to represent the brand. For the “premium” finish an Artist was commissioned to apply an ‘engraved’ texture to the sketch.

Work undertaken for Red Cow Organics came with the added distinction for the use of TASMANIAN branding. The team at Story & Brand felt very proud to receive the comment from the branding committee that we: “…had been one of the few, to best utilise the logo and the way it was suppose to be (as per the TASMANIAN style guide.)”
